Design Notes

Judy Thompson and I met several years ago during our dog training classes at the Lucky Dog Company in Naples, Florida. She shared with me that she wanted a website to promote her new business Pup Portrait Studio: Watercolors and Photography by Judy Thompson, and I shared with her that I wanted to start designing websites. We’re both educators, we both love our dogs and enjoy training them, and we both find joy in being creative. I call it serendipity! I’m grateful she asked me to build her first website, which was my second site.

I built my first website from scratch in 2009, almost seven years before working with Judy. By the time Judy asked me to build her site, I was rusty and wanted to simplify the web design process. We researched site-builder templates and hosting companies, and we chose Wix.com based on their customer reviews and affordable hosting packages.

Judy also asked me to create for her Pup Portrait Studio business (images are above):

  • a black-and-white print advertisement for Top Notch Toys magazine, a print and online magazine for toy dog lovers;

  • a color catalog print advertisement for a Papillon dog show and business cards specifically for the show;

  • two sets of business cards; and

  • stationery to promote her business.

Judy and I collaborated again on her new website and business cards for Judy Thompson: Watercolor Addict. She added several business ventures to her repertoire and wanted to promote her other watercolor and photography passions through her new site.

Judy is currently using Etsy to promote and sell her art. Use this link to visit her WatercolorAddictArt Etsy shop.

Ellie, the Boston Terrier:
Featured in Judy’s work is my beautiful, cherished dog. She is my Earth angel and supervisor of all my work! Judy's photograph of Ellie was the source for many of my designs.

Versatility is my strength and passion.
